What is momosashico nagaisashiko?

momosashico 長井さしこは、山形県長井市に古くから伝わる「長井さしこ」の技術を用いています

山形県長井市はその昔、最上川舟運の最終発着場であり置賜地域の物流拠点でした

北前船の寄港地であった山形県酒田市から運ばれて来た様々な地域の刺し子や、近隣の城下町であった米沢市からも刺し子の文化が流入し、やがて時を経て「長井さしこ」として受け継がれていきます

先代たちが長い時間をかけて解き明かした日本の伝統工芸「長井さしこ」の素晴らしさをmomosashico 長井さしこの作品を通してお届けします




momosashico nagaisashiko uses the Nagai Sashiko technique, which has been handed down from generation to generation in Nagai City, Yamagata Prefecture.

In the past, Nagai City, Yamagata Prefecture, was the final departure and arrival point for the Mogami River boat transportation and a logistics base for the Okitama region. Sashiko from various regions was brought from Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture, which was a port of call for the Kitamaebune ship, and sashiko culture also flowed in from Yonezawa City, a nearby castle town. It was passed down as "Nagai sashiko"

.Through the works of momosashico nagaisashiko, we will bring you the splendor of Nagai sashiko, a traditional Japanese craft that our predecessors spent a long time revealing.

    はるか昔、約400年前に日本の北国から生まれた「刺し子」


    寒さと貧困に立ち向かう中で、布地を大切に扱う知恵から編み出された「刺し子」はやがて、人々の願いを込めた伝統文様として布地に認めていくようになりました



    Sashiko" was born in the northern part of Japan 400 years ago.

    Sashiko, which was developed from the wisdom of taking good care of fabrics in the face of cold and poverty, eventually came to be recognized as a traditional pattern on fabrics with the wishes of the people.

    The Awakening of Nagai Sashiko





    40年以上前、山形県長井市の旧家に長い間眠っていたたくさんの花ぞうきんを集め、その縫い目を全て解き様々な文様の技法を解き明かして行きます


    その復元した文様を独自で開発、普及させた長井さしこの原案は100種類以上とも言われており今尚、日本の伝統工芸として大切に受け継がれています



    More than 40 years ago, I collected a lot of rags with stitching called "hana zokin" , which had been sleeping for a long time in an old house in Nagai City, Yamagata Prefecture, and unraveled all the stitches to reveal the techniques of various patterns.

    It is said that there are more than 100 original designs by Sashi Nagai, whor a independently developed and popularized the restored patterns, and they are still carefully handed down as a traditional Japanese craft.

    momosashico 長井さしこの作品は表地、裏地ともに長井さしこの特徴の一つである「会津木綿」を使用しています


    生地に4㎜〜1㎝の方眼を下書きした上を木綿糸を縦横無尽に操りながら文様を紡いでいく事で「長井さしこ」の伝統を丁寧に、時代に沿った形で受け継いでいます


    先人が残した日本の伝統工芸「長井さしこ」を通じて、現代の「ケの美」をお届けします



    Aizu cotton, one of the characteristics of Nagai Sashiko, is used for both the front and back of momosashico nagaisashiko's products.

    The patterns are spun by manipulating the cotton threads in all directions on the fabric with 4mm to 1cm squiggles drafted on it, and the tradition of "Nagai Sashiko" is carefully inherited in a form that is in line with the times.

    Through Nagai Sashiko, a traditional Japanese craft left behind by our ancestors, we bring the beauty of the modern world.

山形県庄内地方で昔から伝わる『飯詰籠（いづめこ）』はその昔、藁で編んだご飯の保温用籠として使用したのが始まりです

その後は農作業時に赤子のゆりかご代わりに使用したり、大正時代からは人形を中に入れ『飯詰籠人形（いづめこにんぎょう）』として作られていくようになりました

そんな飯詰籠のミニタイプのサイズを土台にしてピンクッションを作りました


【素材】土台部分：国産藁
　　　　針山部分：綿100%（会津木綿：山田木綿織元）
　　　　刺し子部分：無農薬木綿手紡ぎ糸（草木染め）

【サイズ】直径約7.5~8㎝×約5.5~6㎝


Izumeko, which has been handed down from generation to generation in the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture, dates back to the old days when it was used as a basket woven from straw to keep rice warm.

After that, they were used as cradles for babies during farm work, and from the Taisho era (1912-1926), they were made as "Izumeko dolls" with a doll inside.

I made a pincushion using the miniature size of such "Izumeko" as a base.[Material]
